She was almost to despair when she saw the blurry reflection of headlights in her rearview mirror. It seemed a relief but yet at the same time something to be afraid of. What if it was not the auto club or help sent by the police?

What if it was someone who try to harm her? She locked her doors and prayed for it to be help. She watched through her side mirror as a tall figure in a yellow rain slicker exited the light blue SUV and began to approach her car on the left side. When he leaned down, he flashed a badge and ID at her and she released a relieved breath. She rolled her window down and met her rescuer.
正当感到绝望的时候，她的反光镜上出现了一个模糊的车灯亮光。看来是有喜也有忧。如果来者不是汽车俱乐部也不是警方派来的救兵，怎么办？来者若是对她不怀好意，怎么办？她锁上车门祈祷上帝保佑来者是援救人员。从车侧镜上她看到一个身穿黄色雨衣身材高大的身影，开着一辆淡蓝色SUV苏瓦牌小车，在她的小车的左边慢慢地靠近。他弯腰时，胸前的徽章和身份证在她面前一亮，她终于可以松一口气了。她开了车门与援救者见面。

A pair of gray eyes stared at her above a high-bone cheeked face. There was no smile but there was a look of concern. He spoke in a loud voice, so it would not be drowned by the sound of the storm.
他脸上颊骨高高的，没有微笑，但是有关切的表情，一双淺白色的眼睛盯着她看。他大声说话以便在雨声中能听到。

“You okay?” he ask.

“你没事吧？”他问。

Trying the dodge the rain coming in through the window, she answered. “Yes.”

“Okay. My name is Deputy Lane Callaway. And you are?’

“很好。我是莱恩.卡勒维副队长。你叫什么名字？”

“Marla Winslow, deputy.”

“Well, here’s the situation. I was off duty when dispatch called and ask if I could help you since I live near here. The nearest gas station is about thirty miles from here. You called your auto club, right?” the deputy said.

“Yes.”

“Good. We will just call them back, give them directions to tow the car to my place, and I will take you there where you will be safe until your car is fixed. It is the best I can offer right now. Will it do?”

“Yes.”
